Chennai gearing up to celebrate 128th birth anniversary of Papanasam Sivan
CHENNAI: It is celebration time. And, the city of Chennai is gearing up to celebrate the 128th birth anniversary of Papanasam Sivan.

The Papanasam Sivan Rasigar Sangam, in association with Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, will hold a function on September 26. The Governor of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Banwari Lal Purohit, will be the chief guest. The guests of honour will be Mr. N. Murali, President of The Music Academy, and and Mr. K. N. Ramaswamy, Director of Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan. Udayalur Kalyanaraman will be honored with Sivanisai Selvar award. This will be followed by a vocal concert of Malladi brothers with M.A. Sundaresan, Ganapathy Raman and Anirudh Athreya.

The Sangam, in association with PS IMAC, will also hold vocal concerts at Dakshinamurthy Hall, P.S. High School, Mylaore, on September 30. The first concert will be by Sunil Gargeyan. This will be followed by that of S. Saketharaman. Also, a “Ninaivanjali” of Papanasam Sivan will be held in association with Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan on October 1. It will feature Namasankeerthanam by Udayalur Kalyanaraman. There will also be a concert of Sangita Kalanidhi Sudha Raghunathan.
