Anil Srinivasan, Sudha Raja team up to take December season to schools
CHENNAI, December 4: For the first-time ever, the December music season here will witness “Children’s Musical Rhapsody”.

The objective is to help young ones understand and appreciate classical music.

The music season will be taken right into schools during the peak of the December arts' carnival. Prominent musicians – P. Unnikrishnan, Sikkil Gurucharan and Neyveli Santhanagopalan - will be interacting with children in top schools of the city, including Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan at Thirumalai Pillai Road, Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram, and at Arsha Vidya Mandir, Velachery.

Pioneering initiative
A brainchild of classical musician Anil Srinivasan and music educator Dr. Sudha Raja, this initiative will also comprise specially- conceived one-hour lecture concerts for the children featuring artistes such as H. K. Venktaram (Violin), Mysore Chandan Kumar (Flute) and Suma Sudhindra (Veena). This pioneering initiative is done with financial support from Tarangini Arts Foundation, Bangalore.

``We are happy to have the participation of Dr. Y G Parthasarathy, Shri Pappu Venugopala Rao (Secretary, Music Academy), Mr R. T. Chari (Member, Music Academy Committee), Mr. Sabaretnam (Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan) and others as special guests for all the events.'' says a release.

Children trained by Dr. Sudha Raja and her team will also be giving short performances at these events, to be held during schools hours at the respective schools. Storytrails, a Chennai-based venture that comprises various professional story-tellers, will also be regaling children with stories based on music and music composers.

The schedule is as follows:
19th December 2012 (Wednesday) 10 a.m. to 12 noon : Interaction with vocalist Unnikrishnan. It will be followed by a performance by Mysore Chandan Kumar at PSBB, T.P. Road

20th December 2012 (Thursday) 10 a.m. to 12 Noon: Interaction with Neyveli Santhanagopalan. This will be followed by a performance by Suma Sudhindra at Arsha Vidya Mandir, Velachery

21st December 2012 (Friday) 10 a.m. to 12 noon: Interaction with SIkkil Gurucharan. This will followed by a performance by H.K. Venkataram at Bhavan’s TAG auditorium at Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram, Kilpauk
