Sampranita, a Shakti Foundation fund-raiser, to be held on February 27
CHENNAI, February 16: The Shakti Foundation will bring together under a common platform a galaxy of musicians to a fund-raiser programme. The programme is to raise funds for its assorted welfare projects. Titled “Sampranita” (in Sanskrit, it means `brought together'), the show will be held on February 27 at 6.30 p.m. at The Music Academy. The programme will feature flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, mandolin U. Shrinivas, mridangist V. Praveen, tabla player Vijay Ghate and kanjeera artiste V. Selvaganesh.

Dedicated to its founder Velan Raghuvir, the show is in aid of medicare for the Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research.

Since its inception in 1991, The Shakti Foundation has been working to creatr a barrier-free environment for the physically challenged. The foundation has also been working for the implementation of The Persons With Disabilities Act. Over the years, it has become a helpline for the physically challenged and acted as a catalyst in rehabilitating hundreds of special children housed in 15 special schools in the city. Rehabilitation aids, medical support, education stipends and food are provided to these children through the helpline.
