Ootthukkadu Venkata Kavi Aradhana at Dallas
DALLAS, November 20: The 2nd annual Shri Ootthukkadu Venkata Kavi Aradhana was celebrated on November 7 at the Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) Hindu Temple, Irving, Texas, U.S.A.

The programme began with a vedagosham. It was followed by a welcome address by the chief organizer of the event, Smt. Vasundhara Kikkeri. She paid her sincere gratitude to guru Shri. Chitravina N. Ravikiran, who was an inspiration for initiating the aradhana here. Smt. Kikkeri also acknowledged the contributions of Smt. Lalitha Seshadri, who led the team to sing the Saptharathnas.

The Saptharathna krtis were rendered by an ensemble of vocalists accompanied by four veenas, two violins, a flute, mridangam, ghatam and various rhythm instruments. It was a blend of music and bhakti that one got to witness here during the aradhana.

The aradhana was also marked by the individual performances. The dance items included Srivignarajam Bhaje (Gambheeranata) , Ananda Nartana Ganapati (Nattai), Adaadu Ashangadu Vaa Kanna (Madhyamavathi) and Neerada Sama Neela Krishna (Jayanthasri) , transporting the audience to an exquisite land of imagery and and beauty for the event. The vocal and instrumental presentations included Srivignarajam Bhaje (Gambheeranata) , Brindavana Nilaye (Reeti Goulai), Vari yamuna Vihari (Kuntalavarali) , Yettanai Kettalum (Bhairavi), Asaindhadum Mayil (Simhendramadhyama), Alai Payudhe (Kanada), Sarasijabhava jaaye (Kalyani), Padmini Vallabha (Dhanyasi), and Jaaname, a guru kirtanai.

The day witnessed an exemplary dedication of several highly talented school going youngsters such as Madhu Kikkeri, who accompanied the Saptharathna rendition on the violin, Harika Mullapudi and Veena Devaraju (Kuchipudi), Samhita Swaminathan (Bharathanatyam) , sisters Shreya Ashok and Jayashree Ashok who sang Brindavana Nilaye and Alai Payudhe, respectively.

In conclusion, one could notice the infectious feeling of eagerness and motivation to continue with greater fervor, year after year.
