MYSORE, September 14: The State Government of Karnataka has invited top artistes to perform at Mysore Palace for the Dasara festival, which will take place for 10 days from September 19, 2009.

The Dasara celebrations will see top artistes such as Carnatic vocalist Dr.M.Balamuralikrishna, Shehnai maestro Ustad Ali Ahmad, flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia and Ghazal singer Jagjit Singh perform at the Mysore Palace. Top Carnatic vocalist Bombay Jayashri Ramnath and Hindustani singer Shubha Mudgal will give a jugalbandhi performance.

The cultural programmes will be held between 6.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. and will be officially inaugurated with the State’s “nadageethe” by noted play-back singer C. Ashwath.

Renowned singer Shanker Shanubag, guitarist Prakash Sontakki, Hindustani vocalist Kalapeni Konkali, Kathak dancer Nalini and Kamaline will also perform at the festival.

Sri Sri Ravishankar of Art of Living will inaugurate the festival.

District-in-charge Minister Shobha Karandlaje released gold cards and launched a Dasara website to help tourists plan their itinerary for Dasara. The Dasara celebration committee has come out with 1,000 gold cards, each costing Rs. 6,000 that gives the holder certain privileges during Dasara programmes and at tourist spots.
