Vamshi Academy plans monthly concerts in new hall
BANGALORE, July 2: Renowned singer "UbhayaGana Vidushi" guru Dr. Shyamala G Bhave inaugurated here recently the newly-built cultural hall of Vamshi Academy of Music Trust®.
The hall is named as "Vamshika - Sadana".

Vamshi Academy plans to hold Indian classical music concerts every month in the newly built hall. The objective is to make concert-listening a knowledgeable experience to music buffs by providing explanations vis-a-vis ragas and thalas (Rhythm) of songs rendered during a concert.

The concerts are planned to be for a shorter duration. The focus will be more on select ragas. The larger objective is to spread the awareness about Indian classical art forms, says a release from the Trust.

The inaugural concert (on June 27) was given by Dr. Shyamala G Bhave. She began with a composition in the raga Madhuvanti. The concert was quite educative for the general public, as Dr. Bhave explained the aarohana (ascending scale) and avarohana (descending scale) of each of the raga in detail before rendering the composition. She also explained the nuances of each of the raga. The concert ended with Dr Bhave singing a composition of her father Sri Acharya Govind Vithal Bhave in raga Basanth. Dr. Bhave was accompanied by Sri Gurunandhan Kalyanpur (tabla) and Sri Vageesh Bhat (harmonium).
