CHENNAI, June 25: Shri Maharajapuram Santhanam Rasikas' Trust, on Tuesday, honoured vocalist S. Rajagopal, violinist H. Ramachandra Rao and music teachers Vijayshri and Usha Sukumar and presented them with shawls and Rs.2,500 each to mark the Maharajapuram Santhanam Memorial Day.

Four musicians were also given medical insurance policies for Rs.1 lakh each.

Addressing a function organised here, R. Nataraj, Director, Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services, said Maharajapuram Santhanam had a style of his own. His style went down well with his fans, he added. Late Santhanam introduced music programmes in prisons, which was well received by prisoners, he said.
