Sriram Sridhar presents violin recital at Sundaram Finance Sunday Kutcheri
CHENNAI, November 9: As part of the Sundaram Finance Sunday Kutcheri in the Park, 12-yea- old Sriram Sridhar, a 7th standard student of Bharathi Vidyalaya, Perumbakkam, presented a violin concert at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore on Sunday morning (2nd November).
Sriram has been learning Carnatic violin from Smt. Padma Sankar (disciple of Lalgudi Jayaraman). Sriram has also been training in Carnatic vocal from Smt. Sankari Krishnan. Sriram was accompanied on the mridangam by V. Santhanagopalakrishnan and on the ganjira by S. Balaji.
Some of the songs Sriram presented were: ``Enna Thavam'' (Kapi), ``Kurai Onrum'' (Raagamaalika, Aadhi), ``Marivarey'' (Anandha Bairavi) and ``Shobillu'' (JaganMohini).
T. T. Srinivasaraghavan, Managing Director, Sundaram Finance Ltd., was present on the occasion and presented certificates and mementos to the artistes. Launched in February 2006, Sundaram Finance Sunday Kutcheri in the Park takes place on the 1st Sunday of every month between 6.30am and 7.30am and is open for children below 15 years. Mikes and speakers are not used at the concert.
