Flute recital of father-son duo enthralls audience at Dasara fest
MYSORE, October 2: Flautists B.K. Anantha Ram and his son Amith A. Nadig presented a concert at the 2008 Dasara festival celebrations in Mysore on the evening of September 30.

The programme was well received by the audience.

The father-son the duo began the concert with `Vathapi Ganapathim’ in Hamsadwani raga. They followed it up with `Sarasija nabha sodari’ in raga Naga Gandhari.

The next song chosen was from the versatile composer and former Maharaja of Mysore late Sri Jayachama Raja Wodeyar. The song was `Shankari sadaananda lahari’ in raga Malavi. It is considered a very difficult piece and, hence, requires a very rigorous practice.

The main item of the day was `Daari nee telusu konti’ of Tyagaraja in raga Shudda Saveri. They concluded the concert by playing `Bhagyada lakshmi baramma’’ of Purandara Dasa.

They were supported by Nalina Mohan (violin), V.S. Rajagopal and Anoor Shivu (mrudangam), M.A. Krishnamurthy (ghatam), Ramesh (morsing), Amrutha Raman (tamboori) and K.S. Srilakshmi (taala).

The artistes were felicitated by Sri Kashi Vishwanatha Shetty and Sri Pradhyumna, Vice-Presidents of the Mysore Dasara Mahotsava Committee 2008.
