CHENNAI, September 23: TAPAS – The Academy, will hold its annual day event ‘TAPASYA 2008’ at 6.30 PM on September 29 at Smt. Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium, Luz Church Road, Mylapore.
TAPAS – The Academy and Yuvakeerthana have also announced the winner of this year’s “Shri Vidhya Tapasivi' award.
This time around, the award will be conferred on Jayanthi Subramaniam for her allround excellence in Bharathanatyam and her extra-ordinary service towards bhakthi-oriented traditional dance, says a release.
Guru. S. Sarada, a senior most member of Kalakshetra, will present the award. Narayana Vishwanath, Chief Editor, Sarigamapadani and Member (Programmes), South Zone Cultural Centre, Government of India, will preside over the function. The Programme will also see the staging of Dance Drama “Kannan Thiruvilayadal” by the students of TAPAS.
