Academy awards for Mavelikkara K. Velukutty Nair, Sarada Hoffman
CHENNAI, August 25: The Music Academy has decided to confer the title Sangita Kala Acharya on vidwan Mavelikkara K. Velukutty Nair and Guru Sarada Hoffman.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Executive Commitee of the Madras Academy at a recent meeting.
Vidwan Annavarapu Ramaswamy and vidwan Palai C.K. Ramachandran will get the TTK Awards for Excellence. Dr. S.A.K. Durga will be conferred the musicologist award.
The awards will be conferred on them at the sadas, to be held on January 1, 2009.
The Academy, it may be reacalled, had already announced that the Sangitga Kalanidhi Award this year would go to A.K.C. Natarajan.
