Suvasini performs at Sundaram Finance Kutcheri
CHENNAI, May 5: The monthly mike-less 'Sundaram Finance Sunday Kutcheri in the Park' on May 4, 2008 saw the 15-year-old B. Suvasini, a student of SBSM Senior Secondary School, West Mambalam, present an hour-long Carnatic vocal concert at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore here. Suvasini was accompanied on the violin by Shyam and on the Mridangam by K.R. Narayen.

Among the songs Suvasini presented were Kamkanapathey Namo Namo (Hamsadvani), Karikalaapa Mukam (Saaveri), Thikku Theriyaatha Kaatil (Raagamaaligai), Unnai Allaal Verey Gathi Illai Amma (Kalyani) and Thirupugazh (Shanmugapriya).

Launched in February 2006, Sundaram Finance Sunday Kutcheri in the Park provides opportunities for those aged below 15 years to perform in an open air environment without mikes and speakers. Sunday Kutcheri in the Park takes place on the first Sunday of every month between 6.30 am and 7.30am.

A committee from Sundaram Finance conducts an audition to finalise the artistes. Interested schools/ students can contact 94440 – 40748 for registration and audition.
