Nithyashree To Perform For Abbas
CHENNAI, March 6: This one will be a presentation of different sort for Carnatic vocalist Nithyashree Mahadevan. Come March 16, this senior artiste will present a live performance on ragam-based film songs.

The event will take place at Kamaraj Memorial Hall.

B.H. Abdul Hameed will anchor the event. Music troupe Ganesh Kirupa will support the vocalist.

The event will be held under the auspices of Abbas. Nithyashree is not new to Abbas and had given performance for it earlier. She had then presented film songs sung by the three leading women exponents of Carnatic music - late M.L. Vasanthakumari, late M.S. Subbulakshmi and D.K. Pattammal.

This time around, Nithyashree is planning to present some film numbers sung by play-back singers such as P. Susheela, S. Janaki, Jikki, Jamuna Rani, P. Leela, Soolamangalam sisters and Vani Jayaram.

``The songs I plan to sing are based on 30 different ragas. They will be presented in one `song, one raga' basis,'' Nithyashree said.
