CHENNAI, July 30: Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam has been unanimously elected as the president of the Association of Bharatanatyam Artistes of India (ABHAI).

The other new office bearers are:
Vice Presidents: Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala and Radhika Shurajit
Secretary: Priya Murle
Joint Secretary: S. Janaki
Treasurer: K.S.R. Anirudha
The new president said that her vision for ABHAI was to expand membership, which had already crossed 1500, and also enlarge its activities. Membership will be extended to dancers of other Indian classical dance disciplines.

ABHAI would take up issues common to the dance field. The committee has also plans to set up chapters of ABHAI in different parts of India and abroad, conduct academic and practical workshops, lectures, story telling sessions and meaningful interactions with scholars, critics and organisers.
