Svanubhava is a joint initiative of Matrka, an entity formed by Carnatic vocalists Bombay Jayashri and T. M. Krishna, and city-based Youth Association of Classical Music (YACM), an organisation run by a group of youngsters to provide a platform for upcoming artistes to showcase their prowess.
The six-day musical extravaganza will feature lec-dems, lec-cons, educative programmes, movie reels, panel discussions, face-to-face conversations with artistes and listening sessions, among others.
Like last year, Svanubhava this year too will be held across three venues in the city - Kalakshethra, The Adayar Government Music College and The Music Academy.
"Through this event, we wish to expose music students to more programmes, both educative and fun. Also, we wish to give students of music an opportunity to meet and interact with each other and enjoy the experience of this wonderful music. Every programme will be interactive in nature, giving the students an opportunity to ask questions and learn from many great artistes,’’ says a release from the organisers.
The maiden edition of Svanubhava drew overwhelming response and saw over 800 students participate in the event every day. Initially, it was conceived as a one-off initiative. Sensing the huge response from across the spectrum, Mr. T.M. Krishna assured the audience at the concluding session last year that there would be a second edition of the event. He had even indicated that Svanubhava could become an annual feature of the city.
What is unique about Svanubhava? Its significance lies in the fact that all programmes are conceptualised by the student community. Svanubhava gives the students a sense of participation in a task that calls for involvement, dedication and sincerity of purpose. The event is open to all music students. Lunch will also be provided on all six days.
The events of the first two days (August 4 and 5) will be held at the Kalakshethra. On August 6 and 7, the events will be hosted at The Adayar Government Music College. The Music Academy will be the venue for last two days’ events (August 8 and 9). The events will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.
